Wits End Equestrian Centre - Riding Lessons

Beginners start on the lunge line.
This rider is holding the saddle to
develop correct riding position and balance.
It also helps build confidence. The next step is
to learn to communicate with the horse
and to influence speed and direction.

Intermediate riders are introduced to
dressage, mounted games, show jumping,
polo, and long distance riding to give them
a chance to decide what best suits their interests.

Advanced riders work with the show horses as
well as training youngsters. Horses are available for competition and lease or part board

We are proud of our lesson horses. They are the true teachers. You will find them interesting and enjoyable and quite talented.

Our site has a page for lessons and a separate page for coaching. This page, "Lessons" is for riders who wish to ride once a week, without aiming for competition. The actual riding technique is the same. Riders can expect to spend about 2 hours on a lesson. Half an hour grooming and tacking up, one hour riding, and another half hour grooming and putting the horse and tack away. When the weather is particularly nice and riders have mastered the necessary skills we go for hacks. We have several trails nearby including one that crosses a small river.
If you would like to visit the farm please call to make arrangements. Lesson rates range from $35 to $50. Please see the rates page for more details.
