Each year Wits End is host to a very special event: All the Farm's a Stage.
In 2010 we will Follow the Sound.
What is it?
It's outdoors, on a farm.
In and around the buildings we have paintings and sculpture exhibits. A few farm animals wandering around. Great food, and an afternoon of top quality entertainment with professional artists and performers who live in our community. Various musical stylings, dance and spoken word, as well as films by local filmmakers make for a great day!
The links below will give you a good sense of what it's all about.
The feedback we have received from folks who have enjoyed our first Taking Shape events has been very enthusiastic and positive.
"I had no idea what to expect.... the event absolutely exceeded my expectations."
"Thank you for the best day I've had all year!"
"Are you going to do this every year? This is fabulous."
"Keep up the great work."
"Nimkii's hoop dance was amazing. I've never seen that before."
"All the musicians sounded just great."
"Gillian's poetry was powerful and captivating."
Taking Shape events take place outdoors at Wits End Farm near McCracken's Landing.
For Stoney Lake cottagers, if you arrive by boat at McCracken's Landing we can arrange for a horse drawn carriage to give you a ride to the farm. There is a small fee for this and it must be arranged in advance.
In the event of rain we have shelters to keep everyone dry but it's a good idea to bring an umbrella. We ask that you bring your own lawn chair and mug. If necessary we can take the whole event indoors.

Please bring your own lawn chair and mug. We have coffee (etc), soup, biscuits, desserts, and seasonal goodies. If it rains there is plenty of shelter, however, umbrellas are still a good idea.
Our performances include dance, comedy, music, spoken word, film and horses performing to live accompaniment.
Tickets are available at Bluestreak Records or Titles Bookstore in Peterborough, Riverside Variety in Warsaw, Happenstance Books in Lakefield, O'Marra's Berry Farm at Hall's Glen, P.G. Towns Store in Douro, and at Wits End Farm.
All tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. The tickets have a map showing how to find the farm. Please email witsendfarm @ gmail.com to ask about family and group ticket rates. In 2010 we will be offering pony rides, hand drumming workshops, dance and sculpture workshops. Please contact us for more information.
Pre-registration is required for these activities.
We have a Facebook group for Taking Shape, as well as an event page.
